A** K** Brander - oil on board"The First RNLI Lifeboat at Porthleven - The Agar Robartes Launched 17th March 1863", 10Ā½" x 14", the reverse with details "The Lifeboat Agar Robartes was a gift to Porthleven by Lord Robartes of Lanhydrock and named after him. The Lifeboat House on Breageside Porthleven on land leased from Edward Coode of St. Austell for a period of 60 years on the agreement that it be whitewashed every year. The Lifeboat house was built by Mr. Odger Eva and the Lifeboat arrived at Truro Station on the 4th March 1863 and pulled to Porthleven on its carriage by seven horses" - the artist A. K. Brander was a coastguard at Porthleven
